What?
Scientists agree that creating healthy ecosystems of trees, plants and shrubs is an effective and efficient way to sequester CO2 and mitigate climate change effects. What does this tell us? We need to plant more trees!
Why is important to plant trees?
How are we making a difference?
Who?
Founded by concerned Grandparents, the GrandTrees Walk is a local climate change initiative aiming to increase the tree canopy across the GTA and ensure a better future for our planet. The goal is to raise $1 million, all of which will be donated directly to local tree planting initiatives.
ALIVE Outdoors is an experiential and outdoor education company specializing in the creation and delivery of customized, meaningful programs for schools.
Together
In 2020, ALIVE Outdoors is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary and has partnered with GrandTrees to help raise $20,000, which will contribute to the planting of 20,000 trees across the GTA.
GrandTrees and ALIVE Outdoors are teaming up to spread the word amongst GTA youth about our cause. The GrandTrees Walk needs young leaders to step up - as advocates, walkers and fundraisers. Make a team with your class or your school and set a fundraising goal together. Plan some fundraising events and ask the elders in your life to donate for the planet and your future.
Get started by creating a team or donating individually!
Lastly, invite your elders to walk side by side with you in support of local tree planting and climate action broadly at the Evergreen Brickworks on Sunday, May 10 2020.
Together, we can do this.
