GrandTrees will match funds from City of Toronto’s capital budget for plantings in two public parks - on land recently acquired by the city adjacent to Grand Avenue Park (Etobicoke) and in Earl Bales Park (North York) on an area surrounding a universally accessible playground installed in 2018. Fall 2020/Spring 2021.
The city has more applications than funds available through their Urban Forestry Grants and GrandTrees is looking to support this cooperative effort.
In a public campaign led by Mark Cullen, GrandTrees and 1300 donors joined Toronto City Council to create a parkette to preserve a 250-year-old heritage red oak. Native shrubs and greenery will be planted in the understory on Coral Gables Drive in Etobicoke, Fall 2021.
